Golf Course Drainage
Case Study Project Information: Creation of Drainage Solution for Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club
Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Coto de Caza, CA has two championship golf courses – the North Course and the South Course. On one course, Superintendent Tom Shephard reported that installing pipe and gravel to drain the bunkers took six months to complete. On the other course, EZflow was installed (EZ-0701F), and the installation took eight weeks.
The result: approximately four months saved on installation time. In addition to this, the EZflow bunkers drain immediately, while the gravel bunkers often pool and have to be bailed out.
On the course with EZflow, there are no longer complaints from members who ruin their sand wedges after accidentally hitting rocks or gravel on the course. Tom also noticed that the pipe in gravel installations "bow" when rock is dumped around it – this does not happen with EZflow, as the pipe is surrounded by an engineered aggregate.
Tom says:
The actual installation of the pipe and savings of labor hauling and placing rock, is about 50% total.
He also noted:
There won't be any rock floating up for a member to hit. We really didn't do as much 'wear and tear damage' all over the course, and no mowers are eating rock .... THIS is the way to go.
